Scheduling Play

We're currently using e-mail to organize play. We do this through a process of circulating lists of days we can play or days we can't play. There might be a better way. I'll admit to being a Google partisan. They're hosting the blog for instance at no cost to any of us. They also provide a free online calendaring service. I use it to schedule my life. It let's you create a whole set of different calendars. I have one for my home life, one for work, one for family holidays, and one that I get from Google for national holidays. One of the best features, though, is that you can share your calendars with other people. So, Tina and I share our calendars and I can overlay her calendar or any of those others on top of mine. Then I can see how my schedule looks.

If everyone created a Google calendar account, we could use it to do scheduling. I'm not saying that everyone would have to adopt it as the calendar that they use to schedule their life. They'd just need to create one calendar where they'd post the days they were willing to play for the near future. Then everyone would share that calendar with everyone else. DM's could then, using the overlay feature, select the people from a particular party and put them on the calendar to see when a particular campaign could play. I think it would be a lot easier than what we do now.

There would still probably be some e-mail prompting begging people to update their calendars, but the information would be easier to organize.

The City Of Canned Tuna

To finish up the summary of the 1/13/08 Night Below session, the minotaurs were defeated. The head of the minotaur force had a mirror which appeared to function as a communications device. We thought initially that it might be used to warn the denizens of the City of the Glass Pool that intruders were at the back door. Bob W.'s paladin, however, demonstrating that he had no fear of any kind of discovery made an out going call and had a conversation with a human at the other end. The human claimed to not, in fact, be in residence in the City.

We then Thoqua'ed our way through a one-way door and into the back side of the city. We emerged high up on the city's vault wall behind a statue of the Koa-Toa's lobster goddess. Based on some earlier intelligence (a map) and some illuminated portions of the city, we were able to get our bearings. The city appeared quite active with Koa-Toa, but an architectural feature of the city's canal system (a high wall) and a co-incidence of the location of our ledge (near some plumbing) led us to believe we could execute a decapitation strike against the clerical leadership of the city.

So, we descended from the ledge, softened our way through the stone plumbing, got into the canal system, and worked our way near the temple wall. When last we left the characters, their plan was to Thoqua a whole in the side of the temple and surprise whoever was on the other side of the outer wall.

Prancing Dragon Blog

Here's the Prancing Dragon Blog. I threw it together while Beckie was searching the Minotaur maze. I thought it might be a useful place for use to post stuff about the various campaigns, things of interest to people in our community, and other useful tidbits. I've tried to invite everyone as an author, so anyone should be able to post. If I've left anyone out let me know.

Another Night Below

We're playing Ted's game today. The game was at the Wentzel's house. Ted, Mike, Beckie, Bob W., Bill, Jeff, Chris, and Rhett were in attendance. We picked up in initiative order in a battle against minotaurs inhabiting a maze guarding the back entrance to the City of the Glass Pool. The City is a Koa-Toa city. We believe that our long lost companion Jeleneth who was kidnapped from the surface long ago by bandits. Her trail has led us here.
